Fortuna. Watch video
Luck seems omnipresent in our fast-paced world — tangible, constantly within reach. But what happens when the fleeting rush of dopamine, promising momentary fulfilment, fades away? Often, all that remains is the craving for more. Happiness risks becoming just another commodity. Does it wear out the more it becomes a habit?
Through Fortuna, we ask ourselves whether the pursuit of luck truly drives us — or if the manic chase of a mere idea of it traps us in endless loops, running in circles. The world premiere contrasts this obsession with the act of letting go and accepting that fate is rarely within our control. It is said that only the goddess Fortuna herself turns the wheel and determines the course of events.
In several interwoven chapters, choreographers Felix Landerer and Giuseppe Spota create depictions of luck, chance, and randomness. After their collaboration in 2023 on Odysseus with the MiR Dance Company in Gelsenkirchen, Landerer and Spota now take on an even greater challenge: Bern Ballett and TANZ Bielefeld come together to form a unique ensemble for this evening — an artistic collaboration that transcends boundaries in many ways.
